Judge blocks prosecution of sexting teens
The wingnut prosecutor in Pennsylvania who threatened to charge three teenage girls with child pornography for sending photos of themselves has been temporarily put on ice by a federal judge, the Scranton Times reports.
The judge sided with the American Civil Liberties Union and granted a temporary restraining order against any such prosecutions. The photos were of two girls wearing bras and one topless from the waist up, wearing a towel around her waist.
The ACLU argued the photos weren’t pornographic and were protected by the First Amendment.
The prosecutor tried to force the kids into a 10-hour class on pornography and sexual violence by threatening them with charges for sexual abuse of a minor. That’s quite a brush to be tarred with for sending a picture of yourself wearing a bra!
