Gates sics mosquitos on unsuspecting technorati at TED

Bill Gates made his best effort to bring the realities of sub-Saharan Africa to the technorati yesterday. Speaking at TED, he produced and then opened a jar of mosquitos, saying:
Malaria is spread by mosquitoes. I brought some. Here I’ll let them roam around. There is no reason only poor people should be infected.
Roam they did … for about a minute, before Gates announced they weren’t infected, just garden-variety mosquitos.
Twitter reaction:
- I love Bill Gates so so so much more now!
- It would have been way funnier if Bill Gates *did* infect a bunch of people with malaria.
- Zomg! Now I want to make fun of Bill Gates! Gates, you’re a madman!
