Nebraska bans Internet hunting
How sportsman-like is sitting at a computer, staring at crosshairs and clicking a mouse to kill an animal? Not at all, according to the Nebraska state legislature, which passed a bill to ban hunting via the Internet, reports the Journal Star.
Nebraska is not the first state to pass the ban. Texas lawmakers also banned the practice after a Texan ran an Internet hunting site. Twenty-nine other states also have similar bans.
It is thought that there aren’t any similar sites currently operating but the Humane Society of the United States says bans are needed because others have expressed interest in establishing Internet hunting sites.
“Sick ideas have a nasty habit of spreading,” said Michael Markarian, executive vice president of the Humane Society.
Federal legislation has been introduced but failed to pass the House. Another bill will be will be introduced again this year.
